01What cookies are
A cookie is a small file that a website stores in your browser to recognise you on subsequent requests, for example to keep you logged in or remember your language. Browser local storage serves a similar purpose but is not sent to the server with every request.
02Cookies and storage we use
All cookies on this site are technical and necessary for it to work:
- vh_session (first-party, 7 days): identifies your session in the client area and the admin panel. Signed and accessible only by the server.
- vh_mfa (first-party, 5 minutes): created between the password and the two-step verification code; it only identifies who is being asked for the code.
- NEXT_LOCALE (first-party, session): remembers the language you chose (English, Spanish or French).
- __cf_bm and cf_clearance (Cloudflare, from 30 minutes to several hours): set by our protection provider to tell legitimate traffic from bots and to apply security challenges.
- Stripe cookies: during card payment you are redirected to checkout.stripe.com, where Stripe uses its own security and fraud-prevention cookies under its policy.
- Local storage (not cookies): vh_currency stores the displayed currency, vh_cart the contents of the cart and viahost.cookie-consent your answer to the cookie notice, should it ever be shown.
03Legal basis and consent
Technical and security cookies are exempt from consent because they are essential to provide the service you request. That is why this site does not display a cookie banner.
If we add analytics or marketing cookies in the future, they will only be activated after asking for your consent through a notice, and you will be able to withdraw it at any time from that same option.
04Managing cookies
You can block or delete cookies from your browser settings (Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Edge each have a privacy section for this). Note that if you block technical cookies you will not be able to log in to the client area or complete an order.
05Changes to this policy
We will update this page whenever the cookies we use change. The date of the last revision appears at the top of the document.
